Route Heroes: October 2016 Route

ROUTE HEROES

Route Heroes are our eyes and ears along the route. Each Hero is assigned a portion of the route to assist participants and Activity Partners and report any issues to Atlanta Streets Alive staff. Duties may include the following:

  • Helping with set-up and/or breakdown, including posting/removing signage along the route
  • Providing directions or answering participant questions
  • Assisting participants with basic bike repairs (flats, seat adjustments)
  • Encouraging participants to cross intersections along the route safely
  • Making sure Activity Partners are following rules and are in their assigned area
  • Acting as runners to fulfill day-of needs
  • Maintaining water stations
  • Communicating any issues along the route to Atlanta Streets Alive staff

Criteria

  • Minimum Age: 16
  • Mode of mobility: Required; MUST have bike (or other mode of non-motorized mobility) with racks, basket or other ability to carry items
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with area cross-streets, businesses and Atlanta Streets Alive; prior experience in this role is required for Lead position
  • Orientation: Strongly encouraged; required for Route Hero Lead role
  • Shifts: Select from three shifts, full-day or one of two four-hour shifts; Route Hero Lead role is a full-day shift
