On Sunday, September 30, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is activating 3.1 miles of Peachtree Street for Atlanta Streets Alive - Central, connecting South Downtown to Midtown through the heart of the city. From 2:00 to 6:00 pm, the street will be closed to cars and open for people to walk, roll, bike and play!

The fun kicks off in South Downtown, at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Mitchell Street where you can join in the official opening of the street followed by a parade of the routeParade lineup is at 1:30 pm for a 2:00 pm launch. FREE bike decorations will be available while supplies last!

After the opening program and kickoff parade, visit Activity Partners and Route Hosts along the route for a wealth of interactive experiences hosted by community organizations, local businesses and our sponsors. You can explore the open street from end to end or enter and exit the route at any cross street at any time during the four-hour activation.

Atlanta Streets Alive is FREE and fun for all ages. Bring your friends and family, and share in the experience of enjoying our city streets as public space!

Through Atlanta Streets Alive, we create an environment we hope will evolve into tangible, communal changes – including infrastructure changes. All streets in Atlanta should be safe for everyone to use.

Shared Streets enhance the feel of the street, encouraging users to stroll and allowing the street to serve many modes and users simultaneously. The goal of the Peachtree Shared Street Concept is two-fold. The Peachtree Shared Street puts people and transit first; it also improves the interaction of the buildings and street, essentially removing the distance and barriers between patrons and businesses while maximizing the public space on Peachtree Street

Come out to celebrate Atlanta's most iconic street and visit AtlantaBike.org to see our vision for turning Peachtree Street into an avenue for everyone.
