ASA WIZ

As an ASA Wiz, you'll be stationed at an Atlanta Streets Alive info tent to help with set-up as well as Activity Partner and volunteer check-in. You'll also field questions about the route, the day's activities and the Atlanta Streets Alive initiative. The ASA Wiz helps the day run smoothly and ensures an engaging Atlanta Streets Alive experience.

Criteria

• Minimum Age: 16
• Orientation: Strongly encouraged
• Knowledge: Familiarity with area cross-streets, businesses and Atlanta Streets Alive; interest in Open Streets initiatives, prior Atlanta Streets Alive or Atlanta Bicycle Coalition volunteer experience preferred
• Shifts: Select from three shifts, full-day or one of two four-hour shifts

CROSSWALK HEROES

Crosswalk Heroes support Atlanta Streets Alive by making sure all participants are following the rules of the road, as well as by answering questions about the route and the day's activities. Crosswalk Heroes are strategically positioned at main pedestrian crossing points and at any hazards along the route to aid participants with navigating the route safely. Duties may include the following:

• Maintain position at designated pedestrian crossing point
• Aid participants in crossing the route safely where cars are able to cross
• Provide overall event information (i.e. times, what is ASA, why, how, etc.)
• Help guide ASA participants to key areas of the route (i.e. restrooms, water stations)
• May be cross-trained to support other volunteer roles
• Ensure participants are following the rules of the road and reminding them that the streets belong to all of us, on wheels or on foot.

We'll provide flags, vest, signs and foam stop hands.

Criteria

• Minimum Age: 16
• Knowledge: Familiarity with area cross-streets, businesses and Atlanta Streets Alive; prior experience volunteering for Atlanta Streets Alive is required for Lead position
• Orientation: Strongly encouraged; required for Crosswalk Hero Lead role
• Shifts: Select from three shifts, full-day or one of two four-hour shifts; Crosswalk Hero Lead role is a full-day shift

ROUTE HEROES

Route Heroes are our eyes and ears along the route. Each Hero is assigned a portion of the route to assist participants and Activity Partners and report any issues to Atlanta Streets Alive staff. Duties may include the following:

• Helping with set-up and/or breakdown, including posting/removing signage along the route
• Providing directions or answering participant questions
• Assisting participants with basic bike repairs (flats, seat adjustments)
• Encouraging participants to cross intersections along the route safely
• Making sure Activity Partners are following rules and are in their assigned area
• Acting as runners to fulfill day-of needs
• Maintaining water stations
• Communicating any issues along the route to Atlanta Streets Alive staff

Criteria

• Minimum Age: 16
• Mode of mobility: Required; MUST have bike (or other mode of non-motorized mobility) with racks, basket or other ability to carry items
• Knowledge: Familiarity with area cross-streets, businesses and Atlanta Streets Alive; prior experience in this role is required for Lead position
• Orientation: Strongly encouraged; required for Route Hero Lead role
• Shifts: Select from three shifts, full-day or one of two four-hour shifts; Route Hero Lead role is a full-day shift
